Career Exploration Services offered by EHS Inc. facilitate skill development and social integration through community-based activities alongside non-disabled individuals. This fosters the acquisition of socially acceptable behavior and self-advocacy skills, essential for competitive integrated employment. The agency’s facility-based career exploration services are designed to support individuals in attaining, retaining, or advancing in competitive integrated job prospects according to their Person-Centered Plan. Through on-site group activities and experiential learning models, participants are guided towards community-integrated work, enhancing their quality of life and providing opportunities for personal development and fulfillment. These services encompass a range of offerings, from job preparation training to life skills development and nurse health care management, tailored to meet individual preferences and promote overall well-being.
The Scope of Service:
Community-based activities provided by Career Exploration Services may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Travel training
- Activities that facilitate and promote integration and inclusion in the individual’s chosen community, including identifying a path to employment for a working-age individual.
- Self-advocacy classes and activities
- Volunteering within a non-profit organization whose mission the individual supports and/or
- Local community events
- Performing a paid or unpaid internship.
Staff Training and Qualifications:
In compliance with DDA regulations and COMAR 10.22.02.11, personnel involved in career exploration services undergo mandatory training. Employees facilitating instruction on financial and time management, as well as community resources, receive updated training biennially. All staff members are required to be at least 18 years old, possess a GED or high school diploma, hold a valid driver’s license, and maintain vehicle insurance. Additionally, thorough criminal background checks and clearance by adult protective services are mandatory for all staff members.
Setting and Location :
Career Exploration Services may be offered in several community settings. Individual engagement might take the form of chances for leisure activities, social interactions, volunteer work, involvement in neighborhood events, paid or unpaid internships, and other endeavors in the person’s preferred community. Provide services throughout the central, southern, eastern, and western regions of Maryland. All services will be provided in compliance with DDA regulations.
